Wood-fired Travel Chawan
This small, travel-sized chawan was made from a commercial high-iron clay to which I added sawdust, feldspar chunks, mica, and coarse sand. This roughened clay results in irregularity in the thrown form of the pot and a rough surface once trimmed that gives glazes features to interact with. This pot was glazed in a traditional celadon and then fired to Cone 12 in heavy reduction in a wood kiln.
