Small "Ido-inspired" Chawan
This is a small version of the “Ido-inspired” chawan that I’ve been exploring a bit this spring. While not a proper Ido-style tea bowl, which is perhaps one of the most well-defined aesthetically of all Japanese tea bowl types, these bowls do borrow liberally from the Ido-style. The straight angled walls with finger marks left in, the bamboo node foot ring, and the ash glaze are all inspired by the Ido-style. I particularly like the way that this ash glaze has such a large spread of colors, from dark brown to yellow to blue and blue green.
